Our programs

A wide range of courses: group classes, one-on-one classes, standard and specialized lessons to suit specific needs, exams preparation, etc… with high qualified teachers in multicultural classes. Activities, sporting and cultural excursions are available to enjoy the free time.

General English course

  • 20 lessons (15 hours) of 45 minutes each in group of 15 students maximum

Develop your language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking), improve your knowledge of grammar and learn how to use it in practice. Every Monday (or the first Monday of the month if you are a beginner).

Intensive English course

30 lessons (22.5 hours) of English lessons per week, in two parts:
  • 20 lessons (15 hours) of General English
  • 10 further lessons (7.5 hours) of communication skills

Intensive English is a group course which is ideal for learning everyday English with an emphasis on fluent communication and practical language skills. The additional 10 afternoon lessons each week will give you the opportunity to put into practice the new language learnt in the General English Course.

Intensive English + Premium

30 lessons (22.5 hours) of English lessons per week, in two parts:
  • 20 lessons (15 hours) of General English in groups of 12 students
  • 10 further lessons (7.5 hours) in smaller groups of 6 students

A ‘mini group’ course with a small class size of up to 6 students. The course will help you become a confident speaker of English and will maximize your ability to use English in everyday situations. You can join the course every Monday (or the first Monday of the month if you are a beginner). 

General English + Business

30 lessons (22.5 hours) of English lessons per week, in two parts:
  • 20 lessons (15 hours) of General English in classes of no more than 12 or 15 students
  • 10 further lessons (7.5 hours) of Intensive Business English conversation in classes of 6 students

Combines General English with Business English. This course is ideal if you want a mix of everyday English and to develop your specialist Business English language. A minimum level of B1 (Intermediate) is required for this course. 

Private Business

From 2 to 30 one-to-one lessons per week (up to 22.5 hours per week)

Suitable to work on a particular area of your interest or concentrate on some of your weaknesses or special needs. Lessons are 45-minute sessions and can be scheduled flexibly.

FCE Cambridge ExamPreparation course

  • 30 lessons (22.5 hours) of English lessons per week, in group of 10

A preparation for the FCE exam, lessons dedicated to all 5 exam papers: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking and Use of English. Minimum level required B1.

CAE Cambridge ExamPreparation course

  • 30 lessons (22.5 hours) of English lessons per week, in group of 10 students

An intensive course for students who have already achieved B2 level (or C1 if you wish to go for a 4 week course). The course will provide you with a thorough preparation for the CAE exam. The lessons will be dedicated to all 5 exam papers: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking and Use of English. You will need an F1 visa in order to take this course.

IELTS ExamPreparation course

30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week, in two parts:
  • 20 lessons (15 hours) of General English in classes of no more than 12 students
  • 10 lesson (7.5 hours) of IELTS preparation in classes of up to 6 students

 

A formal IELTS test at the end of the course will be delivered to students who took the exam. Course duration 4+ weeks. Once you have passed the exam you will have a valuable qualification, recognized by more than 7,000 institutions in over 135 countries all over the world.

General English + TOEFL ExamPreparation course

30 lessons (22.5 hours) of English lessons per week, in two parts:
  • 20 lessons (15 hours) of General English
  • 10 lessons (7.5 hours) of exam preparation in groups of 6 students
The TOEFL class will provide you with the practice in all the language skills tested on the new TOEFL iBT (Internet-based test).At the end of the course you will receive an LAL certificate stating the course studied and your final language level, and successful candidates will receive an official TOEFL certificate stating the score achieved.
Once you have passed the exam you will have a valuable qualification, recognized by American universities and other institutions all over the world.

Private English

Our accomodation

LAL propose the following types of accomodations

Host Home

Carefully selected families, single or double rooms with wardrobe and table or desk for private study (or access to a study area).

Note :

  • Bed linen provided by the family and changed each week.
  • towels not provided.
  • Assistance with laundry can be offered.
School Residence

Budget rooms with 3 - 6 beds, with access to shared washrooms, with showers, basins and WCs.

Deposit and Damage:

  • Damage deposit of ZAR300 per person to be paid on arrival. Lost keys are charged ZR 50. Lock changes are charged ZAR200.

Additional Information:

  • In addition to the clothes and toiletries it is recommended to bring your own dictionary, paper, pen, pencil for the school and extra money. For homestay, no deposit is required and damage is charged at the family’s discretion.

Laundry:

  • Host home: Assistance available at extra charge and local launderettes available at reasonable prices. Clean bed linen and towels provided once a week.
  • Residence: Clean bed linen provided once a week. Bedrooms cleaned daily. Towels changed once or twice a week.
