Our programs

NYFA propose the following types of programs

FILM Camp(including class instruction and on-set production)

ACTING Camp(1 to 6 weeks)

In the Four Week Musical Theatre Workshop, students develop the necessary skills needed for success in the Musical Theatre, including dance, voice, acting and performance skills.

Final Presentation: All students will present a final performance including song, dance and non-musical scenes for family and faculty.
 

24 hours/week in class + 8-16 hours/week in supervised writing labs.

An intensive exploration of photography in the digital age.

1-Week MUSIC VIDEO Camp

Music Video: one of the most accessible ways to begin a career in directing.

4-Week 3D ANIMATION Camp

3D Topics:

Animation Topics:

  • Weight and secondary action.
  • Squash and stretch.
  • Rubber hose, full, and limited animation.
  • Character design.
  • Exaggeration vs. subtlety.
  • Doping sound and lip sync.
  • Sound-image relationship.

Students in the 3D Computer Animation Camp write, animate, direct and edit their own computer animated short films, learning the principles of animation (i.e. movement, timing, weight, character development, etc.).

1-Week VIDEO GAME DESIGN Camp

  • An introductory course designed to give students an introduction to the art of writing and designing games, understanding what makes games great by playing, deconstructing, and analyzing hit games.

4-Week BROADCAST JOURNALISM Camp

PROJECTS:

  • As producers, students will identify and make arrangements for their subjects, choose and secure locations, prepare equipment, arrange the preparation and set up of the locations, and make final technical checks.

FIELD REPORT:

  • Each student produces a field report. In crews of two or three, each student directs, produces, writes, shoots, and edits a short field report of up 30 seconds to one minute.

THE INTERVIEW:

  • Each student produces and edits a single camera interview of one to two minutes. Students are challenged to ask open-ended questions and to follow the conventions of the television interview.

CLASSES:

Through a combination of lecture, demonstration, in-class hands-on production students are trained in the fundamental principles, techniques, and craft of broadcast journalism.

Hotel

Accommodation in a luxury, full service hotel is optional. Students staying with Family program must arrange their daily transportation or provide a letter granting permission for the student to travel to and from campus.

After a long and exhausting day of filmmaking or acting, many exciting activities are available (museums, Broadway shows..).
