English in Los Angeles

Junior dream camp | Special programs

Los Angeles

Los Angeles has perfect weather, a vibrant and culturally diverse population, and inseparable ties to the film industry.

Our programs

NYFA propose the following types of programs

FILM Camp(including class instruction and on-set production)

Students write, shoot, direct and edit their own films. Our film camps are designed for people with little or no experience in making films. The programs focus on the fundamental elements of visual storytelling that enable the participants to direct their own projects.

Students are immersed in an intensive, professional educational experience, combining fun, experiential, interactive workshops with direct, hands-on acting in front of the camera.

The course introduces students to the craft and tools of dramatic film writing. 24 hours/week in class + 8-16 hours/week in supervised writing labs. The final project can take the shape of a rough draft of a feature film, a draft of a shootable short, or an outline and treatment of a feature or TV project.

Students will be behind the camera, learning the craft of photography through a combination of in-class instruction, faculty-supervised workshops, and individual course assignments. They will become familiar with and learn how to shoot in the many genres of photography, including Fine Art Photography, Photojournalism, Fashion photography, Commercial photography, and much more.

1-Week VIDEO GAME Design

  • An introductory course designed to give students an introduction to the art of writing and designing games, understanding what makes games great by playing, deconstructing, and analyzing hit games.

All students exit the one-week camp with a deep understanding of how to design a great video game. Students will have a basic portfolio of the art they’ve created in the game art lab. And every student will leave with a polished, “shovel ready” Game Design Document, the creative blueprint of a video game.
